MAO CHA from XI GUI ANCIENT TREES 2023

ORIGIN
XIGUI village is located in Da Xue Shan (Big Snow Mountains), Shuangjiang County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, China. This place is one of the most famous mountainous areas in Yunnan province. Due to the high altitude tea from this area is considered as one of the most high-quality in a whole Yunnan with its unique character and flavour. Tropical monsoon forests and an altitude of about 850 meters above sea level are the perfect environment for a hundred-year-old tea trees to grow. Among Pu'Er tea connoisseurs, raw materials from this are especially appreciated for their noble taste. Tea of this quality invariably increases in price every year.

Mao Cha translates as "rough tea" and means that this tea is unfinished and is in an intermediate stage of production. This term is used for a tea material that is ready to be steamed and pressed in case of Sheng (Raw) Pu'Er production or further fermentation process during Shu (Ripe) Pu'Er production. This type of tea is also used for blending and further storage before being pressed into 'cakes'.

ORGANOLEPTICS
The aroma of dry leaves is bright and sweet. There are herbs, dry wood, and fragrant honey. After warming up, the aroma continues with fruity, floral, and honey notes. The aroma of washed leaves is fruity with notes of apple, pear, and vanilla. With further brewing with hotter water, forest motifs develop, bringing woody, herbal, and coniferous motifs.

The taste is sweet, soft, and deep with notes of sugar cane, wildflowers, and freshly dried herbs. With subsequent brewing, the taste goes into more herbaceous, mushroom, and woody motifs. Light bitterness, quickly turning into a long-lasting sweet aftertaste. Very deep, since the leaves are harvested from ancient tea trees, the tea has a noticeable clear energy. Tea perfectly harmonizes, aligns, and tunes. Due to its young age, it gives a fairly light, yellow color infusion, while its taste is very rich and multifaceted! Without any doubt, this tea will develop over time and in a few years will turn into a masterpiece.
