SHU (2012) PU’ER MANDARIN 2024

ABOUT
This unique tea unites two natural treasures of northern Vietnam, aged Shu Pu’Er and wild mountain mandarin. The base tea was crafted in 2012 from the leaves of ancient tea trees growing high in the northern mountains, where mist, humidity, and rich soil create an ideal environment for fermentation. Over twelve years of natural storage have softened its texture and developed deep layers of sweetness, warmth, and calm energy. In 2024, to our special order, this matured tea was gently placed inside whole wild mandarins harvested from natural groves in the mountains. Each fruit was carefully hollowed, filled with the tea, and slowly dried using traditional low-temperature methods. During this process, the mandarin peel releases essential oils that penetrate the leaves, harmonizing with the Shu Pu’Er’s earthy, creamy tones. The result is a perfectly balanced tea that embodies both maturity and freshness, depth and lightness, calm and vitality.

ORIGIN
The tea originates from northern Vietnam, a region known for its ancient forests, mineral-rich soils, and cool, humid climate ideal for producing naturally fermented tea. The leaves come from old tea trees deeply rooted in mountain soil, hand-harvested and processed using traditional methods close to those of Yunnan Pu’Er production. After fermentation in 2012, the tea was kept in clean, natural storage, allowing slow and even maturation over more than a decade. The mandarins used in this creation grow wild at high altitudes, where the air is pure and the fruits develop intense aroma and thick, resinous peel. These fruits were collected in 2024 specifically for AN SHIM TEA and serve not only as vessels but also as natural aging partners for the tea inside. The integration of aged tea and fresh mandarin peel represents a meeting of two terroirs — tea forest and citrus mountain — each enhancing the other’s aromatic and energetic qualities.

ORGANOLEPTICS
The dry mandarin exudes a natural fragrance of aged peel, sweet resin, and dark tea. Once opened, the tea leaves reveal an elegant aroma combining ripe fruit, cocoa, wood, and warm citrus oils. The infusion is clear and deep amber-brown, showing both purity and maturity. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet clean, with notes of dark chocolate, dried dates, honey, and a soft mandarin zest that brightens the finish. The citrus oils add freshness and structure without overpowering the Pu’Er’s natural sweetness. The mouthfeel is velvety and smooth, coating the tongue with a long, balanced aftertaste that lingers with hints of spice and citrus peel. The energy of this tea is calm, steady, and grounding, gently opening clarity and warmth — ideal for quiet evenings or moments of reflection.
