ABOUT
Măng Trắng, also known as “White Bamboo,” is a rare Vietnamese tea produced in Vietnam, made from early spring buds of old wild tea trees. The material is harvested at a very early stage, when the buds are still tightly formed and covered with fine down, resulting in a high concentration of aromatic compounds and natural sweetness. These trees grow in natural forest environments, contributing to a more concentrated and distinctive raw material.

The production follows a minimal processing approach, where the buds are carefully withered and dried without rolling or intensive mechanical handling. This method preserves the natural structure and composition of the buds, allowing the tea to retain clarity and a refined aromatic profile. The careful handling of such delicate material requires precision to maintain both visual integrity and internal balance.

Măng Trắng occupies a unique position in a specialty tea world as a rare, bud-focused tea derived from wild trees. It is valued for its purity, softness, and subtle complexity, offering a refined and elegant expression of early spring harvest. The tea reflects both the character of its natural origin and the precision of traditional craftsmanship.

TERROIR
Our Măng Trắng is cultivated in the mountainous region of Hoàng Su Phì in northern Vietnam. The area is defined by high elevations, often above 1,000 meters, with a humid mountain climate, frequent mist, and strong day–night temperature variation. These conditions slow early spring bud development, allowing for the accumulation of aromatic compounds while preserving clarity and softness.

The tea is harvested from old wild tea trees growing within forest ecosystems, where natural biodiversity creates a stable and balanced environment. These trees develop deep root systems that access a wide range of minerals, while the soils are typically well-drained, slightly acidic, and rich in organic matter. This combination contributes to the density and integrity of the buds, forming the foundation for the tea’s refined structure. Microclimate plays a critical role, with diffused sunlight, high humidity, and constant air movement regulating plant metabolism. The early harvest timing further enhances this effect, resulting in buds with high amino acid content and limited polyphenol development. This balance is reflected in the final tea as soft sweetness, minimal astringency, and a clean, elegant profile.

Another important aspect is the interaction between natural conditions and traditional harvesting practices. The buds are carefully selected within a narrow seasonal window, ensuring optimal maturity and quality. Combined with minimal processing, this allows the tea to fully express the high-altitude terroir of Hoàng Su Phì and the purity of wild tea material.

ORGANOLEPTICS
The dry material consists of slender, unopened buds with a pale silver to light green tone and a soft, downy surface. The aroma of the dry buds is delicate and refined, with notes of fresh hay, white flowers, and a gentle honeyed sweetness. In a preheated teapot, the buds open slowly from the first infusion, releasing a light and elegant aromatic profile where floral tones are supported by soft vegetal freshness and a subtle creamy nuance. As the infusion develops, the aroma becomes more integrated, combining gentle sweetness with a calm, airy character and a faint mineral touch.

The aroma of the liquor is clean and transparent, with soft floral notes, light sweetness, and a delicate creamy nuance. The taste is smooth and very soft, with a light body and a clean, silky texture. A subtle natural sweetness forms the core of the profile, supported by delicate floral and hay-like tones with almost no astringency. The structure remains precise and understated, emphasizing clarity and purity. The aftertaste is clean and moderately persistent, with a soft returning sweetness and a gentle, refreshing finish. In the empty cup after drinking, a delicate sweet and floral aroma remains, leaving a quiet and elegant final impression.
