ANCIENT TREES of MENGKU 2009

ORIGIN
MENGKU tea region is located in Lincang city, in the southwest of Yunnan province. This region is considered as one of the main tea-producing places in Yunnan and is extremely popular and in demand among Pu'Er tea connoisseurs. Mengku is a home to such famous tea places as the Da Xue Shan (Big Snow Mountain), the villages of Da Hu Sai, Xiao Hu Sai, Bingdao, etc. This area is located at an altitude of 1050-3230 meters above sea level. A good geographical location, humid climate all year round give tea trees the sufficient moisture necessary to produce the highest quality raw materials. This creates a special taste for Mengku Pu'Er tea, which is so popular among lovers and brings it the reputation of being one of the richest and deepest. Tea from this region has a sweet, minty, caramel-creamy melody, a noticeable natural smoky aroma and a long floral aftertaste.

This particular tea is made from leaves harvested in early spring from ancient trees over 250 years old. The garden is located at an altitude of 1700-1800 meters. Harvest date 2009! The tea was pressed in 2013, after 4 years of natural storage.

ORGANOLEPTICS
Dry tea leaves have a fresh, sweet, fruity aroma. Over ten years in dry natural storage has given the tea a pure aroma, sweetness and freshness to the dry tea leaves. After heating, the aroma continues with vanilla, citrus sugar notes. After rinsing, the aroma reveals fruity, dried fruit, honey notes. The aroma is clean, soft and deep. With further brewing with higher temperature water, aromatic wood, leather, and mushroom motifs appear. The body of taste is voluminous, long-lasting aftertaste. Very powerful 'Cha Qi', manifesting itself literally from the first bowls and charging throughout the entire tea session. Tea opens into solid combinations of “bud and two leaves”, which indicates high quality and traditional hand-made production.

From the first sip, the taste of the tea lives up to its name. 'Hui Gan' (Returning Sweetness) is a sensation of sweetness that follows an initial bitterness. This special effect is very popular for authentic Pu'Er tea made from ancient tea trees. This taste initially has a clear bitterness, which quickly transforms into an incoming sweetness, with a long sweet aftertaste. Very deep, powerful and complex taste, with an interesting sensation in the mouth in the form of an ever-changing taste. There are spices, dried fruits, and fresh wood. All this is accompanied by bitterness, which becomes less or more noticeable depending on the length of infusion. The tea is tannic and woody, after 5 pours it loses its obvious astringency and becomes softer and more delicate. This tea can be safely called a serious, adult pu'er for those who are looking for a real, authentic and energetically powerful tea.
