RED LOTUS TEA

ORIGIN
Hà Giang is a mountainous province in northern Vietnam, located at the country’s northernmost border with China. Known for its dramatic landscapes and ancient tea forests, it is one of Vietnam’s most pristine and culturally rich regions. The province is defined by rugged limestone mountains, deep valleys, and winding rivers that shape its unique, untouched character. Tea gardens and wild Shan Tuyết trees grow at altitudes between 1,200 and 2,000 meters, surrounded by dense forests and cool mountain air. The climate is mild and misty, with frequent fog and high humidity that nourish the tea trees and enhance the natural sweetness of their leaves.
The soil in Hà Giang is rich in minerals, giving local teas a distinct clarity and depth of flavor. The region’s remote location and limited industrial activity help preserve the purity of its environment, making it one of the cleanest and most ecologically balanced tea-growing areas in Vietnam. Beyond its natural beauty, Hà Giang is home to several ethnic minority groups, including the H’Mông, Dao, and Tày, whose traditional lifestyles remain closely connected to the land. Together, the region’s geography, climate, and culture create a rare and authentic mountain terroir that defines the unique identity of Hà Giang and its celebrated teas.

ABOUT
Red Lotus is our unique interpretation of a traditional scented tea, crafted with devotion and deep respect for Vietnamese tea heritage. The base of this tea comes from early spring leaves harvested from old, wild tea trees growing high in the remote mountains of Hà Giang Province, northern Vietnam. These ancient trees, thriving in pristine nature, produce leaves of remarkable depth, sweetness, and energy - the perfect foundation for this extraordinary tea. Following traditional methods, the freshly picked leaves are carefully withered, rolled, and fully oxidized to develop the characteristic smoothness and honeyed aroma of fine red tea. Once processed, the tea is naturally scented with lotus stamens - one of the most precious and time-honored ingredients in Vietnamese tea culture. This delicate process, carried out by an experienced local tea master, infuses the tea with the subtle, sacred fragrance of lotus flowers, creating a cup of rare balance and spiritual elegance.

Red Lotus by AN SHIM TEA embodies harmony between the richness of wild mountain red tea and the divine purity of lotus. It is a tea that reflects both strength and serenity - a symbol of calm refinement and natural beauty, made for those who seek depth, authenticity, and the true essence of Vietnam’s tea tradition.

ORGONOLEPTIC
The dry leaf of Red Lotus is composed of slender, twisted leaves with soft golden tips, showing the maturity and richness of old mountain trees. The aroma is warm and complex — a blend of honey, dried fruit, and light cocoa wrapped in the delicate floral scent of lotus stamens. When placed in a preheated teapot, the fragrance deepens, revealing tones of caramel, baked apple, and subtle spices. The lotus aroma becomes more rounded and ethereal, adding a serene floral sweetness that feels both elegant and meditative.

The infusion is clear, deep amber with golden reflections. Its aroma is layered and soothing — floral, honeyed, and slightly woody with soft notes of vanilla and warm blossoms. In taste, Red Lotus is smooth, full-bodied, and harmoniously sweet. The liquor opens with honey and fruit tones, followed by gentle floral nuances and a hint of malt and spice. The lotus adds lightness and tranquility, enhancing the tea’s natural depth without overpowering it. The aftertaste is long, mellow, and refined, leaving a lingering floral sweetness and warm calm on the palate.

GASTRONOMY
Red Lotus, with its refined floral aroma and warm, honeyed depth, pairs beautifully with sophisticated and aromatic cuisine. Its smooth, full-bodied character and elegant lotus fragrance make it suitable for both savory dishes and delicate desserts. It harmonizes perfectly with roasted duck, lamb, or spiced Asian dishes, where its natural sweetness and floral notes balance richness and subtle spice. The tea also complements mild cheeses, mushrooms, and caramelized vegetables, bringing warmth and a graceful floral lift to earthy flavors. For desserts, Red Lotus pairs exquisitely with honey cakes, almond pastries, fruit tarts, and dark chocolate, enhancing sweetness with elegant floral nuance. Served warm, it reveals its full harmony and depth; served slightly cooled, it becomes a calming and aromatic companion to fine dining — a tea that unites strength, serenity, and refinement.
