JIN MAO HUO - GOLDEN MONKEY

ABOUT
Jin Mao Hou is produced from carefully selected spring buds and young leaves, processed using traditional red tea methods including controlled withering, rolling, oxidation, and gentle drying. While the name Golden Monkey is more commonly associated with teas from Fujian, Guizhou interpretations are increasingly valued for their softer, more restrained character. Compared to brighter and more aromatic styles, this version emphasizes balance, clarity, and mineral depth, offering a refined expression that reflects both terroir and careful craftsmanship.

ORIGIN
This region is known for its high elevation, frequent fog, clean environment, and mineral-rich soils. The local climate is relatively cool, with pronounced differences between day and night temperatures, which slows leaf growth and supports the accumulation of aromatic and structural compounds in the tea leaves. These natural conditions play a key role in shaping the tea’s smooth texture, balanced sweetness, and calm aromatic profile.

ORGANOLEPTICS
This Jin Mao Hou pairs well with refined, lightly sweet or gently savory foods that do not overpower its natural sweetness and smooth texture. It works particularly well with butter-based pastries, plain shortbread, madeleines, or light sponge cakes, where its honeyed and cocoa-like notes create a clean, elegant harmony. In a savory context, it can accompany mild aged cheeses, soft cow’s milk cheeses, or simple grain-based dishes, highlighting the tea’s warm malt character and soft mineral finish. It is also well suited as a standalone tea for afternoon or contemplative sessions, where its calm structure and rounded profile can be fully appreciated without accompaniment.
