ORIGIN
Da Xue Shan, or Big Snow Mountain, is a renowned region in Yunnan Province. It is celebrated for its exceptional high-altitude Pu'er tea, which benefits from the area's unique climate and ecology. The combination of high elevation, contiguous old tea tree forests, and pristine natural farming practices contributes to the distinctive qualities of the tea produced here.
This tea originated from 150-500-year-old trees that coexist with much older (1000+ years old) specimens and represent a rich genetic diversity. The high elevations at around 2000-2300 meters, coupled with an average temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and substantial annual rainfall, create an ideal environment for the slow growth of tea trees. This slow growth often results in a complex flavor profile, which is highly sought after by tea connoisseurs. Additionally, the soil's yellow-brown clay, rich in organic micro-elements, likely enhances the tea's mineral content, further contributing to its depth of flavor and aroma. The fact that this tea is grown with no human intervention emphasizes its purity and may allow for a more natural expression of its terroir. Each cup tells the ancient trees' story, age, and the surrounding ecosystem. This tea will likely be cherished for its complexity, uniqueness, and connection to the region's rich heritage.
