SILVER RINGS HAND-ROLLED WHITE TEA

ORIGIN

Nuwara Eliya is one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious tea-growing regions, often referred to as the “Champagne of Ceylon tea” for the remarkable delicacy and clarity of its teas. Located in the central highlands at elevations of 1,800–2,000 meters, it is the highest and coolest tea region in the country. The combination of mountain altitude, crisp air, misty mornings, and cool nights slows the growth of tea leaves, concentrating their natural aroma and flavor. The result is teas of exceptional freshness, light body, and refined floral fragrance - qualities that distinguish Nuwara Eliya teas from all others in Sri Lanka. The climate here is temperate year-round, with strong seasonal winds and abundant rainfall that create ideal growing conditions for both traditional black teas and increasingly for white and green specialty teas. The region’s terroir produces teas that are bright and brisk, yet smooth and aromatic, often carrying delicate notes of lilac, citrus, or alpine herbs.

Ebony Springs Tea Gardens is one of the distinguished estates within this region, known for handcrafted, small-batch teas that emphasize purity, craftsmanship, and the expression of Nuwara Eliya’s unique terroir. The garden’s elevation, clean environment, and sustainable practices contribute to the exceptional quality of its teas, including rare handmade white teas such as Silver Rings and White Champagne. These teas reflect not only the elegance of the local leaf but also the skill and care of Sri Lanka’s finest tea artisans.

ABOUT
Silver Rings is a rare handmade white tea from the highlands of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. Crafted entirely by hand from tender spring buds, each leaf is carefully rolled into an elegant ring shape - a meticulous process that showcases both artistry and precision. This unique form allows the tea to unfurl slowly during brewing, releasing a refined floral aroma and soft natural sweetness. The liquor is clear and bright, offering delicate notes of white blossom, honey, and tropical fruit. Silver Rings embodies the grace of Sri Lankan craftsmanship - elegant, pure, and timeless.

ORGANOLEPTICS

The dry leaf of Silver Rings shows tender buds delicately hand-rolled into perfect circular shapes, silver-green in tone and covered with fine down. The aroma is light and refined, with notes of wildflowers, honey, and fresh tropical fruit. When placed in a preheated teapot, the fragrance deepens and softens, revealing warm tones of vanilla, ripe melon, and sweet hay. The aroma feels elegant and calm, carrying the freshness of high mountain air.

The infusion is clear and pale golden, with a soft floral and fruity bouquet. In taste, Silver Rings is smooth, silky, and balanced — floral sweetness blends with gentle honey and a hint of green mango. The texture is light yet full, creating a sensation of brightness and harmony. The aftertaste is long and pure, leaving a cooling freshness and delicate floral note on the palate. Silver Rings reflects the craftsmanship of Nuwara Eliya - graceful, aromatic, and refined, a tea of rare beauty and perfect balance.

GASTRONOMY

Silver Rings, with its refined floral aroma and soft tropical sweetness, pairs beautifully with light and elegant cuisine. Its smooth texture and bright freshness make it an ideal tea to accompany delicate flavors and fine ingredients. It harmonizes perfectly with steamed or grilled white fish, scallops, and shrimp, highlighting their natural sweetness and clean texture. The tea also complements fresh salads, sushi, and rice dishes, where its floral and fruity notes add balance and aromatic depth. In desserts, Silver Rings pairs gracefully with coconut sweets, mild fruit tarts, almond pastries, or white chocolate, where its honeyed aroma enhances gentle sweetness without overpowering it. Served slightly cooled, it makes a refreshing companion to tropical or light gourmet cuisine, expressing the elegance and purity of high-mountain Sri Lankan tea.
