ABOUT
AN III represents the third generation of our AN series, a collection of limited-edition Sheng Pu'Er blends created to explore the full potential of Vietnamese ancient tea tree material. Building upon the experience gained through 7566 (AN I) and the internationally recognized AN II, this blend reflects another step in our ongoing pursuit of balance, complexity, and authenticity. Each new AN release serves as a snapshot of a particular moment in our tea journey, capturing the best material we were able to source, age, and combine during a specific period of time.

The philosophy behind AN III remained unchanged from the beginning of the series: to create a tea that expresses the richness of Northern Vietnam's tea heritage through the art of blending. While single-origin teas remain an important part of our collection, blending allows us to combine different strengths into one harmonious composition. Through careful selection of ancient tea tree material from different regions, harvest years, and storage histories, we aim to create a profile that is deeper, more balanced, and more complete than any single component alone.

The creation of AN III involved extensive tasting sessions and months of experimentation. Numerous combinations were evaluated before arriving at the final recipe. Every material was selected not only for its individual quality but also for the way it interacted with the other components. Some teas contributed sweetness and floral character, others structure and minerality, while additional materials brought fruit notes, depth, energy, or aging complexity. The final blend was designed to create harmony between all these elements while preserving the distinct mountain character that defines great Vietnamese Sheng Pu'Er.

Like the previous teas in the series, AN III is produced exclusively from ancient tea tree material harvested in the mountains of Northern Vietnam. Many of the components were naturally aged before blending, allowing their individual characteristics to mature and integrate before becoming part of the final composition.

From our earliest experiments with small kitchen productions to the establishment of our own factory and sourcing network throughout Northern Vietnam, each blend in the AN series documents a chapter of our development. AN III stands as a continuation of that story, representing the knowledge, relationships, and experience accumulated through years of exploring ancient tea forests, working with local producers, and studying the possibilities of Vietnamese tea.

TERROIR
AN III is a multi-origin Sheng Pu'Er blend composed of carefully selected ancient tea tree material sourced from several mountain regions of Northern Vietnam. Rather than expressing the characteristics of a single village or mountain, the tea was designed to showcase the diversity and complexity of Vietnam's ancient tea heritage through the thoughtful combination of different terroirs. Each component contributes a unique dimension to the final profile, creating a tea that reflects a broader vision of Northern Vietnam's tea landscape.

The materials used in the blend originate from high-mountain environments where ancient tea trees grow at elevations ranging from approximately 1,000 to over 2,000 meters above sea level. These regions are characterized by cool temperatures, abundant rainfall, frequent mist, and significant day-to-night temperature variation. Such conditions encourage slow leaf development and contribute to the accumulation of aromatic compounds, minerals, and amino acids that are responsible for the depth, complexity, and aging potential of ancient tea tree material.

Growing naturally within mountain forests for centuries, many of these trees have developed extensive root systems capable of accessing nutrients and minerals from deep geological layers. This contributes to the pronounced minerality, rich texture, and remarkable persistence that define the finest examples of Vietnamese Sheng Pu'Er. Some components originate from remote mountain forests, while others come from more established ancient tea regions, allowing the blend to combine multiple expressions of Vietnam's tea-growing environments.

Certain regions contribute floral elegance and sweetness, others provide strength, structure, and mountain energy, while additional materials add fruit complexity, herbal depth, or long-lasting aftertaste. Through careful blending, these individual characteristics become integrated into a unified profile where no single component dominates. Instead, the tea expresses a balance of freshness, maturity, sweetness, minerality, and complexity that reflects the strengths of all its origins.

ORGANOLEPTICS
The dry leaves display a beautiful composition of large ancient tea tree leaves and silvery buds, reflecting the diversity of materials used in the blend. Shades of olive green, bronze, silver, and amber reveal both the maturity of the aged components and the complexity of the recipe. The aroma of the dry leaf is deep, elegant, and highly expressive, offering notes of wild honey, mountain flowers, ripe apricots, orchard fruits, sugarcane, sweet herbs, forest wood, and subtle resinous nuances. In a preheated gaiwan or teapot, the fragrance expands dramatically, revealing additional layers of orchid, peach, tropical fruits, floral nectar, pine resin, medicinal herbs, sweet spices, and mineral undertones. The aromatic profile immediately communicates refinement, balance, and depth.

The liquor is bright, clear, and luminous, displaying a rich golden-amber color. The aroma of the infusion is complex and harmonious, combining notes of wildflowers, honey, ripe fruits, sugarcane, mountain herbs, fresh wood, and elegant mineral sweetness. The texture is exceptionally smooth, thick, and silky, coating the palate while maintaining remarkable clarity and energy. The taste opens with pronounced sweetness before gradually revealing layers of honey, peach, apricot, citrus blossom, floral nectar, forest herbs, sweet wood, resin, and mineral complexity. Compared to earlier blends in the series, AN III emphasizes refinement and elegance while preserving the powerful mountain character expected from ancient tea tree material. The interaction between the different origins creates a seamless and highly integrated profile that continues to evolve throughout multiple infusions.

The aftertaste is exceptionally long, cooling, and vibrant. Returning sweetness gradually emerges from the throat and spreads throughout the mouth, accompanied by lingering floral notes, fruit sweetness, and refreshing mineral sensations. The Hui Gan is persistent and dynamic, revealing new dimensions with each infusion. As the session progresses, the tea becomes increasingly rounded and harmonious, showcasing both the benefits of aging and the precision of the blending process. In the empty cup, the aroma remains intensely fragrant, offering lingering notes of forest honey, orchid, ripe stone fruits, mountain flowers, pine resin, sugarcane, and subtle medicinal undertones.
